Trump was fed questions ahead of time at Fox News town hall: book

A new book is claiming that someone at Fox News fed President-elect Donald Trump's campaign questions that the network planned to ask him at a town hall before the event took place last year.

CNN reports that a new book written by Politico's Alex Isenstadt claims that, roughly 30 minutes before the town hall began, an internal Fox News source sent images of the questions that hosts Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum were going to ask him, as well as planned followup questions depending on the responses that he gave.

"Jackpot," Isenstadt wrote, according to CNN. "This was like a student getting a peek at the test before the exam started."

Isenstadt also claimed that Trump was "pissed" after learning of the questions, which included queries about whether he would disavow political violence and whether he would divest from his businesses to avoid conflicts of interest.

Despite Trump's irritation, however, the tip gave his team time to "workshop" answers that were presumably more palatable than whatever off-the-cuff response that Trump would have delivered.

Fox News reacted to Isenstadt's report by issuing a non-denial denial.

“While we do not have any evidence of this occurring, and Alex Isenstadt has conveniently refused to release the images for fact checking, we take these matters very seriously and plan to investigate should there prove to be a breach within the network.”
