Andy Biggs uses California wildfires to attack Democrats with migrant funding lies
As homes burned in California on Wednesday, Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) used the raging wildfires to blast Democrats by falsely claiming they had diverted FEMA funds to migrants.
During an interview on Newsmax, host Bianca de la Garza asked Biggs if he was concerned about FEMA funding for wildfire relief after the agency was forced to respond to two major hurricanes last year.
"FEMA is an agency that probably needs to be revised, reorganized, and revamped," Biggs opined. "And we've talked about that, and we've looked at it, and, you know, they receive incredible sums of money."
"Don't forget they diverted well over a billion, almost $2 billion, to illegal alien care and not emergency management care," he asserted. "So we've got a lot of things that we need to assess at the federal level."
However, a fact check by Reuters found "no credible news reports and no evidence to suggest" that disaster relief funds were diverted to migrant shelter programs.
Biggs continued his attack by blaming California's water management policies.

"I don't want to jump all over this too much, but don't forget that California, they really need to do a job statewide managing their water resources, the millions of acre-feet of water that they just allow to flow out to the ocean every year," he opined. "If you add storage, that might ease some of the water problems that the firefighters are having, if they had nearby reservoirs that were filled with water."
Biggs declined to offer remarks comforting those who had lost homes and loved ones in the wildfires.
