It Will Cost You $227 to See Bill Murray's Dad Rock Band

How much would you pay to see a cover band do renditions of your favorite rock hits from the 1960s and 1970s? And, how much would you pay to hear Bill Murray sing Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone?" As of right now, Bill Murray's band, Bill Murray and His Blood Brothers, have embarked on a mini-tour of the US, playing concerts to lovers of what we can only refer to as "Dad Rock."

As reported by Consequence of Sound, Bill Murray and bandmates Mike Zito and Albert Castiglia are on a brief tour that just began in Chicago and will end on February 15, in New York City. If you've seen any episode featuring Murray singing in the 1970s Saturday Night Live or his famous Elvis Costello karaoke scene in Lost in Translation, you can already imagine what this sounds like. Murray isn't looking to imitate any of the greats, but rather, take his retro lounge singer act on the road.

Writing for the Chicago Tribune, journalist Christopher Borrelli explained that the experience was a "blues concert both serious and not." Meaning if you're going to see Bill Murray in concert, on some level you know what you're getting yourself into.

This is another way of saying that Bill Murray the eccentric cinematic persona, and Bill Murray the person are seemingly, at this point, one and the same. One could totally imagine Peter Venkman from Ghostbusters or Steve Zissou from The Life Aquatic taking a novelty act like this on the road.

But, if you want to see and experience Bill Murray in all of his musical glory, the concert price will either be very affordable, or way too high, depending on how you look at it. The average ticket price for Bill Murry and His Blood Brothers is around $227, though we found some tickets above $300.
