Two Bruins Prospects Selected For AHL All-Star Classic

The Boston Bruins will be well-represented at the 2025 American Hockey League All-Star Classic in February.

Providence Bruins goaltender Michael DiPietro and defenseman Michael Callahan were selected to the 12-man Atlantic Division roster, the league announced Wednesday. This will be the first appearance for both DiPiertro and Callahan.

“I’m really honored. Super excited for the opportunity,” DiPiertro said, per a team-provided video. “I’m just really thankful to my teammates for being supportive. It’s been a good year so far, looking forward to continuing to build on it.”

DiPietro boasts a .925 save percentage and a 2.04 goals-against average across 18 games this season for Providence. He has an overall record of 11-4-3 with two shutouts.

“Michael DiPietro is a guy that has done everything we’ve asked of him,” Providence coach Ryan Mougenel said in a statement from the team. “I think our staff has identified the athleticism in Michael. The one thing that people don’t see and we get the luxury of is the high quality person that he is. We’re happy for him but not surprised by this honor because he is a fantastic person and goaltender.”

Callahan has seven goals and 26 assists for 33 points in 173 career AHL games, including six points in 33 games this season for Providence. The 6-foot-2, 196-pound defenseman admitted he’s not a prototypical player you think of when it comes to All-Stars.

“It’s great. I’m really excited … It’s a good honor, and I’m excited to go,” Callahan said, per team-provided video. “Usually, you think of an All-Star, you think of guys who have lots of point production. That’s not really my game.

“I feel like I’ve kind of grown into playing a lot of minutes this year in all situations. Just trying to provide value to the team in any way I can. Just try to play that all-around game and helping the team win.”

The Bruins have a 17-12-3-1 overall record, 6-2-1-1 in their last 10 games, and 39 games remain in the regular season.

The All-Star Classic will be held Feb. 2-3 at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, Calif. Rosters were determined by committees of AHL coaches, and at least one All-Star will represent each of the 32 teams in the league.
