Little Apple makes headway on clearing streets of snow

MANHATTAN (KSNT) - Crews in the City of Manhattan are putting in the work to get roads cleared for residents.

This weekend, Manhattan received 15 inches of snowfall. That's some of the most snow the city has ever seen. This abundance of snow means city crews are working around the clock to make the roads drivable, and they've been on the streets since Saturday.

Andrew Lawson, Manhattan's Communications Manager, told 27 News Wednesday that he understands people's frustration with snow piled up on residential streets, blocking driveways and maybe even cars, but the goal was to get a drivable lane for people, then clear the piles later in the week.

While the City is working as fast as it can, Lawson anticipates it will take some time to get the streets back to normal.

"I don't think this can be wrapped up in a week, probably not in two weeks or even three weeks, it's going to take some time to make all that headway," Lawson said. "It's not the last you'll see of us. Just understand if we haven't been back in your area for a few days, we've got a lot of areas in town to cover. So we're working through a process and continually doubling back on that."
