WYNNEWOOD, Okla. (KFOR) - Snow is beginning to fall in parts of Oklahoma as winter weather moves into the state.

KFOR Meteorologist Aaron Brackett is tracking the snow as it begins to fall south of the metro in areas like Purcell, Newcastle, Pauls Valley, Wynnewood, Blanchard and Lawton.

KFOR has weather trackers out keeping an eye on the snowfall and road conditions.

According to Brackett, the snow is just beginning and the OKC metro is included in a Winter Storm Warning. Bands of snow will continue moving north from mid morning through the afternoon and evening hours. This will be a long duration, but relatively light snow event. There will be some times of moderate snow, especially in the afternoon.

By the time the system is moving to the east, snow will gradually wind down overnight into Friday morning with some blowing and drifting from northwest winds. Here’s the latest forecast snow totals:

The 4Warn Storm Team will continue to track the weather conditions throughout Thursday into Friday.

Several schools and offices are closed Thursday due to weather. To learn more, visit KFOR's Closings and Delays page.
