How much snow to expect Friday, Jan. 10 in central Ohio
COLUMBUS (WCMH) -- The third snowstorm in a week will create slippery travel conditions for the Friday evening commute.
The same storm that is expected to dump 3-6 inches of snow from parts of North Texas across the Mid-South to the Mid-Atlantic states will brush Ohio later on Friday.
A winter weather advisory goes into effect Friday afternoon for the west-central and southwest Ohio, along with a winter storm watch for the Cincinnati area, where accumulations will be a little heavier.
Snow will begin to fall Friday afternoon across central Ohio at a light to occasionally moderate rate, with temperatures in the upper 20s. The total snowfall across the state will range from 1-3 inches.
The snow will begin as flurries during the Friday commute, then pick up in intensity during the evening and overnight.
On the northern fringe of the storm, about 2-3 inches will accumulate from the late afternoon into early Saturday morning, before the storm pushes off the coast early in the weekend.
The greater snow totals in Ohio will again be along the southern counties, but with considerably less accumulation compared to Monday, as the track of the low-pressure system will be much farther south. A few spots near Cincinnati could pick up between 3 and 4 inches.
