Did the Hollywood Sign Burn Down Amid LA Fires?

There are fires raging throughout the Los Angeles area, including the Hollywood Hills, nearby the famed Hollywood sign.

As a result, there has been plenty of speculation and concern online that the iconic landmark has burned down amid the fires.

There have even been images floating around on social media, in which the sign is seemingly ablaze. Several users have spread those photos, sparking concern that it’s real.

Photos of the Hollywood sign on fire are all AI generated.

One photo going viral was created by Grok AI, the chatbot developed by Elon Musk‘s xAI company.

A map by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) shows that the sign was not within the blaze area. A reservoir stands between it and the fire, via Newsweek.

One community note on X reads: “This is an AI generated image that has been presented as fact to mislead the audience. The Hollywood sign does not have any fire near it. 24/7 live camera support this evidence.”

The blaze has, however, displaced thousands of people who have evacuated, and has sadly claimed many celebrity homes.
