Fires Devastate California And They Need Our Help. Now.
What a complete nightmare for everyone in Southern California.
By now, most of you have heard about the disastrous fires in California.
Centered around the L.A. area, the fires have caused immense damage and that damage has been accelerated by the Santa Ana winds which have clocked in as high as 100 miles an hour.
It’s just a devastating combination. Police on Wednesday were at one point telling people to get out their cars and to run to the ocean to save their lives.
All day Wednesday we saw people who have had their lives turned upside down in hours. Many celebrities, not surprisingly, but even more everyday people who lived in or around Pacific Palisades have lost everything. As of early Thursday morning another fire has broken out around Hollywood Hills.
This is reminiscent of the Maui fires of 2023 (we’re sure some of those people came to the mainland only to go through the same nightmare again).
When the devastating floods hit Western North Carolina and the surrounding states this past September and October, people around the nation and world, and certainly California, rallied to help. Now we need to return the favor, because our fellow Americans are living through a disaster that’s every bit as bad.
Please take a few minutes and look up the American Red Cross, or Samaritan’s Purse or whatever organization you prefer and send some help to California.
Almost all of us know someone in the Golden State and, much like WNC, no one was prepared for this sort of tragedy. We should all do whatever we can to help. Please give as much as you reasonably can. These people really need help and they need it right now.
