Lucknow Super Giants announce Rishabh Pant as captain ahead of IPL 2025
India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been appointed as the skipper of franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of IPL 2025.
Earlier, LSG had acquired the services of Pant for INR 27 crore at the IPL mega auction held in November. With this, he became the costliest player to ever be sold at the auction.
The wicketkeeper-batter has previously captained the Delhi Capitals in the 2021, 2022 and 2024 season.
“Rishabh Pant will not only be the most valuable player of IPL but the best player,” LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka said on Monday.
The Lucknow-based franchise was led by KL Rahul during the previous few seasons, however he had opted to enter the auction this season and was bought by the Delhi Capitals for a massive fee of INR 14 crore.
