I’m black but my daughter’s white & ginger – everyone thinks I’m the nanny, even my DOCTOR didn’t believe she was mine
A LOT of mums know the struggle of carrying a baby for nine months only for it to come out looking like it’s dad.
One woman’s experience is even worse as people continue to question whether she is the mother of her children.
Speaking on the YouTube channel Truly, mum-of-two Tina shared the responses she often gets as a black mum to two ginger light-skinned daughters.
She revealed that from the moment her eldest child was born, people have questioned her parentage.
Tina shares 10-month-old Mila and two-year-old Michelle with her ginger husband Anton.
And Anton’s Dutch genes proved to win out over her Nigerian ones as both the girls were born with ginger hair.
“I would never in my wildest imagination thought that my daughters were going to be a redheads even if my husband was,” Tina said.
She revealed that one of her babies was born two months premature and had to be moved to a special ward.
When Tina was changing her daughter’s nappy one day, the doctor came in to examine her baby.
However, the social media influencer noticed that the doctor appeared to be waiting for someone.
When she eventually asked who would be joining them, the doctor explained that she was waiting on the mother.
After Tina explained that she was the mum, the doctor replied: “Oh sorry, I thought you were the nanny.”
While Tina did not blame the doctor for the misunderstanding she said it made her realise the explaining she was going to have to do after leaving the hospital.
The family have even taken to carrying around their children’s ID cards just in case though they are rarely stopped if Anton is present.
Tina on the other hand, has been asked for proof of parentage countless times, including once on a bus when she had to ask her husband to send her a picture of their daughter’s passport.
Another time, a woman in the supermarket shared her concern that “the mother isn’t going to like her baby crying” when she noticed Mila fussing in Tina’s arms.
The stressed mum politely responded that she was “the mother” in question.

Some commenters have even accused her of being a housekeeper or nanny who simply uses the children for content.
Despite the hate, Tina has taken most of the online comments on the chin.
She even joked that some day her “genes will win out,” predicting that her daughter’s will develop other features that look like hers, such as her nose or chin.
Tina added that her two-year-old’s Nigerian roots cannot be denied due to her love of spicy African food.
