Hi! I’m New Here
My Name is Tommy Pecoraro, come get to know me...
Hello readers of Covering the Corner, my name is Tommy Pecoraro, and I am the newest addition to this site’s incredible writing team! A little about me, I am a 19 year old freshman at the University of Cincinnati where I study statistics. Before heading to UC, I attended high school at Kenston Local Schools, where I was a three-year member of Varsity Baseball and a proud starting member of the 2023 Division II State Championship squad.
Though I decided to leave my playing career in high school, I am heavily involved in the baseball world. I aspire to work in Baseball Operations once I have earned my degree in statistics, and it has long been my passion to be on the cutting edge of data analysis in the baseball industry. In many ways having the opportunity to share my research through Covering the Corner is my first step towards that goal of becoming peers with some of baseball’s best and brightest.
Born and raised just about a half hour outside of Cleveland, I have been a Guardians fan since I understood the concepts of sports. Some of my favorite memories of the team are the 2016 playoff run, Shane Bieber’s magnificent 2020 Cy Young campaign, all the low pitches that Austin Hedges has turned into a strike, and every single thing Jose Ramirez has done on the diamond in his career. It is almost impossible for me to name a single player as my favorite, but if I had to pick, I would say Gavin Williams with Austin Hedges hot on his tail.
Some things that readers can expect from here in my future here at Covering the Corner are prospect analysis, deep dives into pitchers, and pitch modeling (once I have confidence in my coding skills). In the very near future, I will be releasing lists of both my top 20 Guardians’ hitting prospects, as well as my top 20 pitching prospects.
I would like to thank all my past coaches, trainers, and teammates for helping cultivate my love and appreciation for the fascinating sport of baseball. I would also like to extend a special thank you to Quincy Wheeler, the Managing Editor of Covering the Corner, for offering me the opportunity to contribute here.
I look forward to sharing all I have to offer to all the readers here at Covering the Corner, as well as hearing all your thoughts in return. I can’t wait to post my first article detailing my top 20 hitting prospects, see you all in a week or so when that happens!
