Erika Jayne's Son Testifies in A$AP Rocky's Felony Assault Trial

A$AP Rocky‘s assault trial has officially begun.

If you were unaware, the 36-year-old rapper, whose legal name is Rakim Mayers, was charged with two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm in August 2022. He was accused of shooting his former friend A$AP Relli. He pleaded not guilty in 2022. However, a judge ruled that the case will proceed with a criminal trial in late 2023.

During day one of the trial on Friday (January 24), Erika Jayne‘s son Thomas “Tommy” Zizzo Jr. was one of the first witnesses to take the stand to testify.

Officer Zizzo was one of the first LAPD officers to respond to the scene of alleged 2021 incident. While on the stand, Zizzo reportedly “testified about what he saw at the scene when he arrived,” according to TMZ.

While Erika may be a public figure, her son prefers to stay out of the spotlight.

“He didn’t choose this life — I chose this life — and we try and protect him,” Erika previously said in 2020. “I don’t care if he’s an adult and he carries a gun and a badge. At the end of the day, he’s still my boy. He’s a very fine young man, and I’m super proud.”

Earlier this week, Rocky declined a plea deal in the case.

The rapper’s attorney recently revealed if his longtime girlfriend Rihanna will be involved in the trial.
