It saw fellow player Frankie become the “Seer”, granting her the ability to learn any other player’s role.
The interior designer chose Charlotte, hoping for affirmation about her closest ally – only to be left stunned to learn the truth.
One fan wrote on X: “Charlotte is genuinely the most legendary player the show has seen. Fiercely intelligent, utterly ruthless and delightfully charming, she played it the way traitors should: COLD.
“Ultimately robbed by the power of the Seer, my head still bows to her.”
Another remarked: Well the ‘seer’ power ruined the final. Charlotte was robbed. And poor Alexander. I am unamused.#TheTraitors.”
Speaking to MailOnline, Charlotte said: “I think the fact that Freddie had obviously voted for me at the banishment before he went, I think it would have been very hard for me to win from that.
“I think especially given the way that the game was played this year with the lack of revealing towards the end of who we were.
“I think if there’s one sprig of doubt you’re out, ‘oh Freddie, voted for you, you’re out.”
As the only witnesses to the secret meeting, each claimed the other was a Traitor.
Unfortunately for Charlotte, the other remaining players believed Frankie and she was banished.
She reached the final five alongside Frankie, Jake Brown, Alexander Dragonetti and Leanne Quigley.
Jake and Leanne, both 28, went on to scoop the prize money after revealing they were both Faithful.
Earlier in the series, Minah Shannon recruited Charlotte after the other original Traitors were eliminated.
Charlotte had already been deceiving the other players – by pretending to be from Wales.
Meanwhile, Minah had been hoping to continue the “sisterhood” among the initial line-up.
Wary of a potential betrayal, Charlotte planted seeds about her ally ultimately leading to Minah’s banishment.
How does The Traitors work and who hosts it?
The Traitors first launched in the UK in 2022, after the Dutch format was acquired by the BBC.
Claudia Winkleman is the show’s host, and has now hosted all three series to date.
How does it work?
It is a reality game show that involves 22 contestants, and some of them are chosen to be The Traitors.
The Traitors sees a group of contestants taking part in “the ultimate game of truth and deception”.
The group of contestants are competing for the chance to walk away with a huge cash prize.
While navigating through a series of challenges, the team are also tasked with figuring out who the Traitors are in the group (usually three contestants).
Each night, the Traitors gather to “eliminate” one of the Faithful, removing them from the competition
Meanwhile, the traitors can be “banished” if they’re successfully outed as a traitor by a faithful.
The winners of the show are either the Traitor who remains undetected or the Faithfuls if they successfully eliminate all the Traitors.
The prize sees the winner could get £120K.
She then recruited Freddie Fraser, who’d had suspicion over him throughout the series.
Charlotte used information about a shield – which Freddie hadn’t been privy to – as a means of eliminating him as well.
Despite showing impressive tactical game play, it was not enough to secure victory in the end.
The Traitors is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
