Ramaswamy: 'Incorrect' to say he didn't get along with Musk

Biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy said Monday that it’s “incorrect” to say he departed President Trump’s inaugural “Department of Government Efficiency” because he did not get along with his co-leader, billionaire Elon Musk.

In an interview on Fox News’s “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Ramaswamy said he and Musk had different approaches to the job. But when asked about reports that the two didn't get along, he said, "I think that's incorrect."

“But what I would say is, we had different and complementary approaches,” he told Watters. “I focused more on a constitutional law, legislative-based approach. [Musk] focused more on a technology approach, which is the future approach."

"No better person to lead that technology, digital approach than Elon Musk," the entrepreneur added.

Ramaswamy, who ran against Trump in the 2024 GOP presidential primary before dropping out and endorsing him, said he soon will be running again for elected office — a reason he gave when first announcing his departure from DOGE. The Hill has previously reported that the Ohio Republican intends to run for governor of the Buckeye State.

He also hinted at running for a state-level office in the Monday night interview.

"When you're talking about a constitutional revival, it's not just done through the federal government. It's done through federalism, where states also lead the way,” Ramaswamy said.

“So I will have to be saying more on that very shortly, Jesse, but that's going to be my next stop,” he added.

On Trump’s first day in office, Ramaswamy confirmed he would not serve on the DOGE commission, leaving the Tesla and SpaceX CEO to singularly lead the advisory group.

“It was my honor to help support the creation of DOGE,” Ramaswamy wrote Monday on social platform X. “I’m confident that Elon & team will succeed in streamlining government. I’ll have more to say very soon about my future plans in Ohio."

He added, "Most importantly, we’re all-in to help President Trump [make] America great again!”

Trump tapped Musk and Ramaswamy to co-lead DOGE shortly after his election victory last year, promising to cut down on government spending and slash federal jobs that the nongovernmental task force deems unnecessary.
