'You lie!' Protesters object to Trump nominee's claims about vaccines
Protesters were hauled out of a confirmation hearing for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as secretary of Health and Human Services.
President Donald Trump's nominee appeared Wednesday morning before the Senate Finance Committee, and a protester objected when Kennedy insisted he was not anti-vaccine under sharp questioning by Sen. Rob Wyden (D-OR), the panel's highest-ranking Democrat.
"Much as I have criticized certain industries and agencies, president Trump and I understand that most of their scientists and experts genuinely care about American health. therefore, we will bring together all stakeholders in pursuit of this unifying goal," Kennedy said. "Before I conclude, I want to make sure the committee is clear about a few things. News reports have claimed that I am anti-vaccine or anti-industry. I am neither, I am pro safety."

"You lie," shouted a woman from the gallery, and she was quickly ushered out. "You’re a liar. The first rule is do no harm."
Kennedy was interrupted again by another protester as he discussed a lawsuit he brought in 2021 to block Covid-19 vaccines six months after they rolled out, and committee chairman Mike Crapo (R-ID) threatened to call off the hearing.
"Comments from the audience are inappropriate and out of order," Crapo said, "and if there are any further disruptions, the committee will recess until the police can restore order. Please follow the rules of the committee."
