Netflix Raised Its Prices (Again)

0

After gaining a record increase in the number of subscribers at the end of 2024, Netflix has raised its prices. They had already increased prices just last year in addition to discontinuing their cheapest plan. Back in 2013, the premium plan at Netflix was $11.99/month, it has now more than doubled and is $24.99/month.

Netflix now offers three plans:

  • Standard with ads ( $7.99 / month): plays 1080p on up to two devices with ad breaks.
  • Standard ($17.99 / month): plays 1080p on up to two devices with no ads.
  • Premium ($24.99 / month): plays 4K (Ultra HD) + HDR on up to four devices.

These prices represent a $1-$2.50 increase per month over 2024 and a $6/month increase since 2020 for the premium plan.

This price increase makes Netflix one of the most expensive streaming services and it doesn’t necessarily have the selection to back up the price. Prime Video offers a similar selection and costs only $9/month. Max is considered a more premium option but its most expensive plan is still $4/month cheaper than Netflix. Peacock was offering an entire year of ad-supported membership for only $20 on Black Friday. You can also just watch Tubi for free, and they have many great movies, especially for genre fans.
