Norman PD arrest suspect in string of home burglaries without incident

NORMAN, Okla. (KFOR) - Norman Police on Thursday confirmed the arrest in the investigation of a man wanted in connection to multiple home invasions.

Investigators say, 19-year-old Landon Appleby is now in custody in connection to multiple home invasion burglaries in addition to other associated crimes occurring over last five months in the area of 12th Avenue and Alameda Street.

According to police on Jan. 29, Appleby attempted a burglary at a residence in the 1600 block of Alameda Street. Officers quickly responded and Appleby was located after and ran from officers in the area of Shiloh Drive and Alameda Street. Shortly after the foot pursuit, Appleby was taken into custody without further incident.

Additionally while investigating officers discovered, Appleby was connected to and admitted to his role in at least 15 incidents in attempted entry into primarily occupied residences during the night. Appleby revealed, during one of these incidents, Appleby sexual assaulted an adult female, says Norman PD.

Appleby was booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center on one complaint of Rape in the First Degree, 10 complaints of Burglary in the First Degree, one complaint of Burglary in the Second Degree, and four complaints of Attempted Burglary.
