NHL February power rankings: The chaos before the 4 Nations Face-Off

The NHL came out swinging to begin 2025. Not only did we get a blockbuster trade that saw Mikko Rantanen head to Carolina in a three-team deal, there’s drama abound on and off the ice. Oilers fans were up in arms about Connor McDavid’s suspension. The Canucks also joined the fray and finally shipped off J.T. Miller in another massive trade.

In short, it’s been a pretty chaotic start to the new year and February will no doubt have more in store with the approach of the 4 Nations Face-Off, which could signal a mini trade deadline of its own. That’s right, folks. The trade deadline nearly here too. What a season of hockey it’s been so far.
