‘Naked Carpenter’ stabbed police officer with scissors 23 times after flashing in park
A notorious flasher once nicknamed ‘the Naked Carpenter’ has been jailed for life after attempting to murder a police officer whilst barricaded in his flat.
Robert Jenner repeatedly stabbed 59-year-old constable Sean Quinn in the head, face and neck with a pair of scissors, leaving him with over 20 injuries.
The assault happened during the evening of June 15 in 2023, after patrols went to Jenner’s flat in Maidstone, Kent following allegations of indecent exposure in nearby Mote Park.
Jenner, 50, was completely naked when they arrived, and barricaded his front door with furniture to prevent them from entering.
Once they eventually gained access to the flat, Jenner fled to a darkened room, the force said.
When officer Quinn followed him, he was immediately set upon by Jenner, who attacked the officer repeatedly with a pair of scissors and caused injuries to his head, face, neck and limbs.
The assault only ended when colleagues were able to intervene and assist the officer in restraining Jenner.
He was charged with attempted murder after bodycam footage of the assault was shown at Maidstone Crown Court, where he was convicted in absence after refusing to leave his cell.
Jenner was again absent yesterday when he was sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment.
The court deemed him ‘dangerous’, and Jenner will have to serve at least two thirds of his jail term before he can apply for parole.
He will also be the subject of an extended licence period of five years when released from jail.
Following the sentencing, Chief Superintendent Neil Loudon of Kent Police said: ‘Jenner was responsible for a sustained and savage attack against a front-line police officer dedicated to serving his local community.
‘This terrifying ordeal lasted more than 20 seconds and only ended when colleagues were able to intervene and assist the officer in restraining Jenner.
‘Jenner has inflicted some of the worst injuries to a constable I have ever seen and this case is also a reminder of the challenges police officers face through their readiness to confront danger and protect others.
‘Throughout all the court proceedings Jenner has displayed his clear contempt for the law and has also remained unrepentant for his shocking actions. He remains a serious and substantial threat to the public and will now rightly be in prison for a very long time.’
Jenner, a former soldier, was previously given the nickname Naked Carpenter for carrying out DIY and odd-jobs in the nude.
