Jacobsen, a manufacturer of turf maintenance equipment, debuted two new mowers for golf course superintendents: the HR3 ELiTE rotary mower and the Eclipse 2 ELiTE walking mower.

According to Jacobsen, the HR3 ELiTE leverages the company’s electric drivetrain, powered by Samsung SDI lithium battery technology, to deliver a quality cut with zero emissions, less noise and reduced operating costs.

The HR3 ELiTE pairs its electrically driven transaxle with electric motors for its cutting system, eliminating emissions and decreasing noise. The mower’s low-noise floor enables operation near golfers and residential areas without causing disturbances.

The rotary mower’s low noise level helps create a safer operating environment for the user, and the high-spec suspension seating and controls further aim to improve the operator experience. Its tilt-sensor technology enhances safety when operating on slopes. For cutting along thoroughfares, the HR3 ELiTE is road-safe, with LED lighting and mirrors.

The HR3 ELiTE’s Samsung SDI lithium battery system utilizes the same zero-maintenance technology in Jacobsen mowers, Cushman utility vehicles and E-Z-GO golf cars. The battery system provides more than 40 kilowatt-hours of energy for all-day runtime and is backed by a five-year battery warranty. An onboard charger simplifies recharging and is designed for overnight use.

The HR3 ELiTE has a cutting width of 1.52 meters (4.98 feet) and an adjustable cutting height. A high-strength steel frame with solid bumper rails protects the mower from everyday use, and onboard diagnostics allow operators to monitor the mower’s performance in real time.

The Eclipse 2 ELiTE is also powered by a fully electric drivetrain utilizing Samsung SDI lithium batteries. According to Jacobsen, this technology enables the Eclipse 2 ELiTE to mow greens and tee boxes and approach areas silently without disturbing golfers or neighbors on the course.

The company adds that, compared to gas-powered models, the Eclipse 2 ELiTE reduces noise levels for bystanders by up to 60 percent, and its low noise output eliminates the need for operators to use hearing protection. Without a gas engine, the Eclipse 2 ELiTE also reduces hand-arm vibration for operators by 40 percent and removes the risk of harmful fluid leaks, which can cause turf damage.

The Eclipse 2 ELiTE features a programmable frequency-of-clip system that adjusts reel speed based on the mower’s ground speed. The mower’s floating head, featuring an independent front roller, carries the weight of the mower and basket, ensuring that the cutting head is unaffected by a basket full of clippings or an inexperienced operator. The Eclipse 2 EliTE is available with 18, 22 and 26-inch cutting heads.

The Eclipse 2 ELiTE is also designed to minimize maintenance with zero-maintenance batteries and advanced onboard diagnostics. The onboard controller allows operators to monitor mower performance in real-time, including system voltage, reel RPM, mow speed, frequency of clip and fault displays. The Eclipse 2 ELiTE also has fewer belts and parts than conventional gas-powered mowers to simplify service.

A range of available options and accessories allows operators to customize the Eclipse 2 ELiTE to the specific needs of their course. An optional LED headlight allows for operation in low-light situations. Other available options and accessories include a groomer, fine bristle brush, and multiple bedknife options.

The HR3 ELiTE and Eclipse 2 ELiTE are now available from authorized Jacobsen distributors and dealers.
