The Express got on the board at 3:56 after the Spruce Kings turned the puck over at the blue line, and Carson McGinley finished off a 3 on 0 break from the blue line in after passes from Thomas Zocco and Mason Kesselring.
Coquitlam made it 2-0 at 11:44 as Ryan Staples put home a loose puck past Charles Gravel at the side of the net from Andrej Kovacevic and Nikiti Sitnikov.

The Spruce Kings came out flying to start the third period as Maks Perčič started out of his own end and rushed down the left wing, firing a shot on goal. The rebound kicked by Andrew Ness went right to Nicolas Papineau who put it back through the netminders legs to cut the deficit to one.
As the period progressed, the Spruce Kings kept attacking, and as Linden Makow dug a puck out of a scrum, Sasaki found Trent LeDrew at the point. LeDrew would walk the line and catch Ness going the wrong way and tied the game with 5:42 to go in the third.
In overtime, Mason Kesselring headed back in his zone for the loose puck, and it hopped over his stick as Sasaki forced the turnover and outwaited Ness and sent 918 fans home happy.
