Dancing On Ice star Anton Ferdinand suffers crushing blow after FOUR stars QUIT this year’s doomed series from injury

DANCING On Ice star Anton Ferdinand has suffered a crushing blow ahead of Sunday’s live skate.

It came just days after the footballer left ITV show fans in tears with an emotional routine dedicated to his late mum Janice.

Meanwhile, Dancing on Ice as a whole has been thrown into turmoil by four shock exits.

Eric Radford, Dame Sarah Storey and comedian Josh Jones – as well as show pro Vanessa Bauer – have all been forced off the ice in recent weeks and will play no further part in this year’s instalment.

Ex West Ham star Anton, who previously told The Sun he “didn’t realise what I was signing myself up for” is now also at risk of leaving Dancing On Ice completely.

Bookies Ladbrokes have told The Sun that, despite a stellar routine last week which saw him scoop second place, he is the hot favourite to depart after Sunday’s skate.

Anton is placed at Evans in the betting, with Love Island alum Chris Taylor hot on his heels with 2/1 odds to leave.

Cal Gildart of Ladbrokes said: “He put on a great show last week, but Anton Ferdinand is on thin ice.

“However harsh it may be, unless he delivers another showstopper, the odds suggest he’s skating against the tide this Sunday.”

Previously defender Anton, who also clocked up appearances for QPR, has previously spoken about his struggles on the ITV reality series.

He said: “I love the sport. But this is so hard.

“I didn’t realise what I was signing myself up to if I’m being honest there were days when I thought what am I doing?, for sure.

“However, as a father, I always speak to my children about being out of their comfort zone and embracing it. and working through it.

“I just don’t want to let them down. But just to me, just saying yes and getting to the first live show feels like a win to me because this is so hard. You forget how dangerous it is as well.”

He added to us: “It’s such a hard sport and with the body positions and the weight where you need to put your weight is so against what you’re used to being a footballer, you know, I’ve had to undo a lot of the ways my mind thinks and how my body needs to positioned to make sure that when I’m on the ice, I don’t drop you know.”

Anton, who has been supported by older brother Rio, 46, during the live episodes, then spoke to us of his former injuries impacting his skates and confessed: “For the first month of training my back every day was really bad but I’ve had to get through it.

RAW ROUTINE

Last week, Anton took to the ice to dance to She’s Royal by Tarrus Riley, alongside his pro-skating partner Annette Dytrt.

In his VT he returned to his roots in Peckham and explained how Janice was much-loved in the local community.

Anton and Annette smashed their routine, and received an impressive score of 34.

However, it all got too much for Anton, who revealed he had chosen that particular song to dance to, because it was his late mum’s favourite.

Speaking to hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern after the scores were in, the choked up star fought back tears, as he said: “I just hope I did her proud.”
