Zion Williamson’s Exclusive Air Jordan 1s Are Finally Being Released to the Public
As New Orleans remains the center of attention heading into Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, it’s fitting that new details have emerged of a Crescent City-inspired sneaker set to hit retail later this year. But rather than the NFL gridiron, the upcoming release is tied to New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson.
First seen in detailed images shared by Jordan Brand sport and promo designer Ryan Smith during November 2023, a new “Voodoo Alternate” Air Jordan 1 OG Low designed for Williamson is finally expected to be released at retail.
The new pair compliments Williamson’s original “Voodoo” Air Jordan 1 Low OG, which was released in 2022 and featured an asymmetrical patchwork-like color combination of “Flax/Muslin/Fauna Brown/Oil Green/Sesame/Moon Fossil” and voodoo doll-inspired details throughout the design.
The “Voodoo Alternate” Air Jordan 1 Low OG features similar mismatched toe and heel colors in a “Regency Purple/Vapor Green/Black/Dark Raisin/Daybreak/Light Silver” color palette. Like the first pair, the alternate style uses canvas and suede on the upper, but also introduces new textures including a faux pony hair tongue and a leather liner. Meanwhile, the sneaker’s thick rope shoelaces and toebox stitching retain the unique “Voodoo” flair.
Both of Williamson’s “Voodoo” Air Jordan 1 Low colorways were the product of former Jordan Brand PE designer Kelsey Amy, who announced her departure from the brand in July 2024. Other recently released work created by Amy includes Rui Hachimura’s flower and crane-covered “Oatmeal” Air Jordan 1 Low OG.
In related news, Jordan Brand officially unveiled Williamson’s fourth signature shoe, the Zion 4, in January and the new model will be released soon.
As for Williamson’s New Orleans-themed Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Voodoo Alternate,” sources including Sneaker Files are reporting a Nov. 19 release date. The sneaker’s SKU is IH2309-500, although retail pricing has not been confirmed. It’s likely the shoes will be released from SNKRS and select Jordan Brand retailers, but this story will be updated with any pertinent changes.
