I didn’t want to shell out on a customised walk-in wardrobe so designed one myself using IKEA Pax – it was £6.8k cheaper
SHE was quoted a whopping £8,000 to have a customised walk-in wardrobe made for her box room.
So instead of shelling out on the project, Nina decided to try and DIY one herself, using units from IKEA.
She took to TikTok to share a look at how she did it, as she began by putting three large empty wardrobe units on the back wall.
Nina then used two slimmer units on the side of the main three.
Once she was happy with the placement of the units, she began securing them in place, and added runners in the larger three so that she could put drawers in.
She ended up putting four drawers in two of the bigger units, topped with another little shelf on top of which she added some organiser trays and topped with a piece of glass.
She did the same in the other drawered unit, before adding a top shelf and hanging rail in each.
In the third of the larger units, she put six shelves, before adding a top shelf and two hanging rails to one of the slimmer units.
In the last tall, slim unit, she added four drawers at the bottom, and four shelves at the top, before bringing in loads of hangers to start putting up her clothes on.
“Build IKEA PAX Walk-in Wardrobe with me,” Nina captioned her video.
“I am in love with it and so glad I designed it this way!”
She added in response to another comment that the project had cost her £1,122 in total, plus a delivery cost of £45 – nearly £7,000 cheaper than the original quote.
“IKEA is actually reasonable pricing! Look into it!” one person commented on the video.
“Considering what a closet place would charge, these are a drop in the bucket,” another added.
“Just depends on the configuration you want.”
“My dream is to have this sort of space and storage for something like this,” a third wrote.
“If you can do it, and afford it, why not?”
“It’s not cheap compared to standard wardrobes but compared to design and build companies it is.
