I broke down crying after ‘nasty bully’ Peter Kay branded me a Lisa Riley lookalike – I thought he was calling me fat
A WOMAN ejected from Peter Kay’s comedy gig after being likened to Lisa Riley told how she headed home “crying” thinking she was “fat” following his quip.
Earlier this week, we told how the Bolton-born comic had kicked hecklers out of his homecoming show at Manchester‘s AO Arena – with one simply shouting the phrase “garlic bread.”
Phoenix Nights star Peter – who often references the foodie treat in his stand-up and sitcoms – also appealed to security for support to remove Scottish ticket-holder Myar Curran, after she professed her “love” for him.
Yet before she left the city centre venue amid the Better Late Than Never… Again! show, 51-year-old Peter said: “Have a drink have we?
“Go on, off you go Lisa Riley.”
He was referring to the Emmerdale actress, who plays Mandy Dingle, who has spoken openly about her battle with booze.
Lisa is now nine years sober after admitting to drinking two bottles of wine a night – with the screen star previously confessing she “drowned my feelings in alcohol” following her mum’s death.
Peter today broke his silence on the debacle which left some fans blasting his conduct as mean – with his words coming shortly before 25-year-old Myar opened on her woe.
She told how the gig was due to be a “special” night for her family, in honour of her late mum who was due to attend but sadly passed beforehand.
Referencing the Max and Paddy star’s dig towards her, when she was wearing a black and white top and her raven hair in a bun, the mum said: “I do feel he was on about my weight.
“I know Lisa Riley has lost a lot of weight and looks great but she used to be a bit bigger.”
Myar, who is a parent of one, continued to the Manchester Evening News: “I didn’t used to be this big, I have put a bit of weight on, I’ve had a child.
“I’m self-conscious about that so to go to a show and feel like you’re having the mick taken out of you because of your weight, I was just a bit shocked.
“I’m annoyed and upset about it. The whole arena was laughing, I think they thought it was part of the show but there was a nastiness to his voice.
“It was like he was trying to get the crowd against me – it just wasn’t nice, to be honest.”
After she admitted she returned to her hotel room sobbing, she added: “It was just a very rubbish situation.

CLAP BACK
The shocking moment Peter booted the two hecklers out of his show was today exclusively revealed by The Sun.
Peter then spoke out on the matter earlier today in a statement to ITV show Good Morning Britain and said: “I didn’t realise it was an insult.
“She did look remarkably like Lisa Riley, I didn’t realise that was an insult.”
GMB host Ed Balls defended Peter, and told viewers: “He felt he had no option but to remove the hecklers as they were spoiling the show”.
Ed continued to read his statement which said: “There comes a point when dealing with repeated hecklers simply isn’t enough.
“It’s not something you ever want to do but it becomes a point when it’s no longer fair to everyone around.”
Warehouse work Philip Peters now wants a refund after his daughter, 17, forked out £155 on his ticket for Christmas.
He told the Mail: “It was me who shouted out ‘garlic bread’.
“I was there with my son and they dragged us out like rag dolls and I am now covered in bruises.
“A lot of people just stood up and walked out when they saw how we were dragged out.”
The stand-up previously said he’s “too embarrassed” to buy garlic bread at the supermarket – after the snack became the punchline to one of his best-loved jokes.
The drama caused one fan to state: “Was embarrassing, the guy only shouted garlic bread and the woman just shouted we love you Peter. Waited 20 years to see him and was disappointed.”
A fan then told MailOnline: “The whole thing just feels very nasty and bitter.
“His performance was poor but the way he dealt with one heckler and someone shouting ‘we love you’ was ridiculous.
“My friend and I left the show after that, half an hour early. Others left the show early too.”
LISA’S VIEW
Actress Lisa has now broken her silence on the debacle today.
Today the soap star addressed the fallout on Instagram, writing: “Please draw a line under this now, I am not offended, never was offended.
“I love Peter Kay to pieces. Laughter is my favourite medicine.”
Yesterday she shared a picture of the quote “Keep calm and laugh” on her grid and added: “It’s a laugh, it’s funny!”
She also posted about “seeing the good in life”, sharing a quote: “We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorns have roses.”
