State offices in KS will soon reopen after winter weather
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Kansas Governor Laura Kelly is ordering state offices to reopen after winter weather came across northeast Kansas.
On Wednesday, Feb. 12, Kelly announced that state offices will soon reopen after the recent snowfall. State offices in Shawnee County were ordered to close on Wednesday due to safety concerns in the possibly "hazardous conditions" that could come from the winter storm.
Kelly declared that state offices in Shawnee County will reopen Thursday, Feb. 13.
“Thanks to the hard work of crews, roadway conditions have improved, and state offices will return to normal operations on Thursday,” Kelly said. “Please exercise caution when traveling and continue to give crews the necessary space as they keep working to clear roadways.”
According to Kelly's office, all non-essential state employees in Executive Branch agencies under her jurisdiction working in Shawnee County are to return to work as normal.
On Wednesday, Feb. 12, areas in Topeka saw between 2-3 inches of snowfall. You can reach our full list of closings and delays by clicking here. Find our latest weather forecast by clicking here.
