VIDEO: Alabama player inadvertenly scores for Texas

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas could have used more help like this Tuesday night.

During Alabama's 103-80 win over the Longhorns at Moody Center in Southeastern Conference men's basketball action, Crimson Tide senior guard Chris Youngblood scored for the wrong team.

After Texas freshman Tre Johnson missed a fadeaway jumper from the baseline in the first half, Youngblood and Kadin Shedrick went for the rebound. Youngblood had an inside position on Shedrick and went up with one hand to tap it away. Unfortunately for Youngblood, he tapped it onto the rim and it fell through the hoop with 9:33 left for two Texas points. It cut Alabama's lead to 23-17, but it was just a small blip as the Crimson Tide kept rolling to take a 49-31 lead at the half.

Shedrick received credit for the bucket, and considering his rough shooting game, he'll take it. He was 3-for-10 and was constantly bombarded by Alabama defenders in the paint which caused him to miss five layups.

Texas has lost three consecutive SEC games and they have to turn it around if they want to be selected for the NCAA tournament. The Longhorns take on No. 15 Kentucky on Saturday at Moody Center, looking to improve on their 4-8 SEC record.

Before Tuesday's loss, ESPN bracket expert Joe Lunardi projected Texas to barely make the field as a No. 10 seed, giving the Longhorns one of the "last four byes," meaning they wouldn't have to play in the First Four.
