What a couple of weeks we’ve had. In The Blade was an article about the National Institutes of Health voluntarily reducing its overhead. Overhead does not bring value. Excessive overhead is why people don’t donate to organizations. Yet the NIH move to voluntarily reduce overhead from an elevated 25 percent has been lambasted by our Congress people. They say that this will cause people to die because of a reduction in research. I guess our elected officials don’t understand the concept of overhead.
