Watch: Fans break through security during Stadium inauguration ahead of Champions Trophy 2025
The Champions Trophy 2025 is going to be a massive event for Pakistan as the country is hosting an International Cricket Council (ICC) event. This is the first instance since 1996 that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is going to host an ICC event.
PCB are currently inaugurating their renovated stadiums that will be hosting the matches if the Champions Trophy. The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and National Stadium in Karachi have already been inaugurated during the Tri-series ODI between Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa.
The Champions Trophy 2025 is going to be played in a hybrid model because the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) rejected sending the Indian team to the neighbouring nation as per security concerns. However, the PCB has promised the ICC for the safety of all players. Now, videos are going viral on social media and raised concerns about security.
In one of the viral videos, fans can be witnessed climbing over the walls of stadium and fences in order to witness the opening ceremony. According to the viral post, the crowd broke through the security in a VIP section of the stadium. However, we don’t claim the authenticity of the clips.
The Champions Trophy 2025 is going to be played in a hybrid model, where India’s matches will be held in Dubai. Pakistan’s Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi will host the rest of the matches. The tournament is going to begin February 19, and final will be held March 9. The venue for final will depend on India’s performance. If India qualifies for the final, the title decider will take place in Dubai, otherwise, it will take place in Pakistan.
