Coronation Street star fuels rumours of epic soap crossover with Emmerdale in new snap
A CORONATION Street star has sparked concern that he could be leaving one ITV soap for another, and switching to Emmerdale.
Actor Daniel Brocklebank has been a member of the Coronation Street cast since joining the ITV soap in 2014 as Billy Mayhew.
However fans may not know that he’s also appeared in other soaps too, including BBC‘s EastEnders and ITV’s Emmerdale.
Whilst he previously played Rodger Green in the BBC One soap, he’s also appeared in ITV’s Emmerdale as bin man Billy.
He’s now sparked worry that he could be returning to Emmerdale and swapping cobbles for the countryside after he shared a snap as he visited the Emmerdale set.
Posting a selfie outside of the building to his Instagram page, the soap star said: “Oooooh what’s going on here then?”
Whilst fans have commented on whether this means he’s leaving Wetherfield for The Dales or not, one co-star has been quick to react.
Corrie co-star Jane Hazelgrove, who plays Bernie Winter, jumped into the comments to joke: “If you are training with their netball team I’m going to divorce you!!!! IMMEDIATELY!!!”
Fans have also been keen for more news, as one commented: “Ooooh you tease.”
Another shared: “I have so many questions about this but I am so here for it.”
“Ohhh you tease indeed,” said a third.
Another posted: “Hope we find out what you’re doing there. It’s intriguing!!”
“Ohhhh are you crossing the boarder?????” questioned another.
He previously told the Metro about his experiences in various soaps: “In Emmerdale I was a bisexual Geordie bin man and in EastEnders I played someone connected to the Mitchells – they thought I was Billy Mitchell’s long-lost son.
“I also did a soap in Ireland called Fair City and I’ve done a few guest episodes of Doctors.”
Recent storylines for Daniel’s on-screen character Billy have been heartbreaking, so it’s no wonder soap fans are concerned he could be leaving for good.
ITV viewers watched as a heartbroken Billy has been grieving after the death of partner Paul Foreman.
Paul died last year in heartbreaking scenes just 17 months after being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.
