CPAC chair accused of groping bar patron — but no charges filed: report
The chairman of the American Conservative Union grabbed another person's genitals at a bar in rural Sperryville, Virginia, according to a report from the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office obtained by the local news outlet Rappahannock News.
The disturbance happened around 11 p.m. on Feb. 8 at the Black Twig. Owner Daniel Gleason called the sheriff's office and said a patron had "just assaulted another customer." The suspect was not found and the victim declined to prosecute, according to the outlet.

Matt Schlapp, 57, was later identified as the suspect, according to a report from the sheriff's office. No charges were filed.
The dispatcher's notes said the suspect "assaulted one person grabbing their genitals." The victim declined medical services and declined “obtaining warrants.”
Schlapp left the bar in a BMW, reported Tom LoBianco of 24sight News, citing the sheriff's report. He didn't respond to LoBianco's request for comment.
The bar was hosting a “Snowball Dance Party” for adults 21 and older at the time.
Schlapp and his wife have a home in nearby Madison County.
The allegations first came to light in a report by independent journalist Yashar Ali, who shared accounts from witnesses of the incident who asked to remain anonymous, fearing retribution.
Sclapp has been accused of sexual assault involving men in the past, which he has denied.
Carlton Huffman, a former Senate campaign staffer for Georgia Republican Herschel Walker, sued Schlapp for $9 million claiming Schlapp groped him as he drove him in October 2022.
