Four St Philip men charged in connection with a multimillion-dollar drug bust at Welches Beach, Christ Church on February 9, were released on bail yesterday.

However, the Tobagonian jointly charged with them remains on remand at Dodds Prison.

Damario Dottin, 27, of Brereton; Jamar Kirton, 35, of Sunbury; John Edey, 42, of Evelyn Road; and Wayne Chase, 53, of Edgecumbe Tenantry, appeared before Magistrate Deidre McKenna in the Oistins Magistrates’ Court. Each was granted $100 000 bail.

The four had to surrender their travel documents and are required to report to District “B” Police Station every Monday and Friday.

They were charged with possession of cannabis, possession with intent

to supply, trafficking and the importation of the drug that had a street value of $4.5 million.

When they first appeared in District “A” Magistrates’ Court earlier this week, King’s Counsel Michael Lashley said he and attorneys Shadia Simpson and Simon Clarke would apply for bail for the Barbadians.

However, Roydell Skeete, 40, of Sandy Hill Trace, Tobago was remanded until March 13.

A sixth man held is yet to appear in court after reportedly being injured during the operation. (SAT)
