National Museum of Racing announces 2025 Hall of Fame finalists
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The National Museum of Racing has announced the finalists for the 2025 Hall of Fame. The finalists include eight racehorses, seven trainers, and one jockey.
According to the nominating committee, the candidates that receive 50 percent plus one vote or majority approval from the voting panel will be elected to the Hall of Fame. All the finalists, listed below, were required to get at least nine votes from the 14-member committee to qualify.
Racehorse finalists:
- Blind Luck
- Game On Dude
- Groupie Doll
- Havre de Grace
- Kona Gold
- Lady Eli
- Rags to Riches
- Smarty Jones
Trainer Finalists:
- Christophe Clement
- Kiaran P. McLaughlin
- Kenneth G. McPeek
- H. Graham Motion
- Doug F. O’Neill
- John W. Sadler
- John A. Shirreffs
Jockey Finalist:
- Jorge F. Chavez
According to the museum, the ballots will be mailed to the voting panel at the end of February and the winners will be announced in April. The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on August 1, at the Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion in Saratoga Springs, at 10:30 a.m.
To be nominated for the Hall of Fame, trainers must be licensed for 25 years while jockeys must be licensed for 20 years. Horses are required to be retired for five calendar years to be nominated.
But all candidates have to be active within the past 25 years. Candidates who have not been active within the past 25 years are eligible through the Historic Review process.
