George Clooney Addresses 17-Year Age Gap with Wife Amal
George Clooney is looking back at the beginning of his relationship with now-wife Amal.
If you didn’t know, the 63-year-old Oscar-winning actor and the 47-year-old human rights lawyer first met through a mutual friend in July 2013 and got engaged in April 2014. They married in September 2014 and welcomed twins, Ella and Alexander, in June 2017.
In a new interview, George admitted that he thought his 17-year age gap with Amal would be a deal breaker when they first met.

Fortunately for George, things worked out with Amal, but as their twins get older, he’s become even more aware that he’s not getting any younger.
“I had this conversation with Amal when I turned 60,” George explained. “I said, ‘Look, I can still play full-court basketball. I can still run around. I can still do pretty much everything I did when I was 30. But in 30 years, I’m 90.’”
He also pointed out, “there are some things you’re not doing [at that age] no matter how many granola bars you eat.”
George went on to say that he intends on making the most of his good health for as long as he can.
“I told Amal, ‘We have to focus on the next 20, 25 years of making sure that we’re jamming in everything we can,’” George said. “Not just work, because no one at the end of their life goes, ‘God, I wish I worked more.’”
In a joint interview, George and Brad Pitt revealed the movie role they both competed for and who ended up winning.
