Mulvane Art Museum hosts first faculty exhibition in six years
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Local artists and faculty of Washburn University held a new art exhibition on Friday labeled, "Being Human."
Six artists and faculty members at Washburn University discussed their artwork in the exhibition on Feb. 21.
Every year Washburn chooses a different theme for the spring semester for its classes and the museum incorporates this idea into an exhibition. The director of the museum, Connie Gibbons, said the theme is just perfect for this year's faculty show.
"There's nothing more human than that creative process and that urge to create," Gibbons said. "And the need to be creative."
The discussion opened up many opportunities for people to ask questions about their inspiration and thought process behind their work displaying the theme of being human. The free exhibition will be open now through to March 22 at the Mulvane Art Museum located at 1700 Southwest Jewell Avenue on Washburn University's campus.
