How Below Deck Down Under's Captain Jason Stays Fit While Filming
For Captain Jason Chambers, keeping a routine seems to be the secret to staying fit while captaining a luxury yacht and filming a reality show at the same time.
"I wake up and do my breathwork, the band work, do a lot of push-ups, sit-ups, and do a lot of, calisthenics," the Aussie native, 52, exclusively shares with Men's Journal. "I don't do many weights. I just do a lot of balance work."
Of course, it's easier when there's a gym on board the yacht, which doesn't always happen, but he says for this third season, "We had a gym in there," adding, "We had a little sauna as well."
His routine also includes a bit of sports, he explains, as he walks MJ through his daily schedule: "Wake up, breathwork. Walk for about half an hour. Come back, do some stretching. I play a game called padel, which is like pickleball."

It's even more important for the captain to maintain a healthy lifestyle after revealing he was recently diagnosed with melanoma, a type of skin cancer.
"For someone that spent their life in the sun, as a child playing sport to working on the ocean, I thought I was resistant to the damaging effects of the sun," Chambers wrote on Instagram in December 2024. "I love the sun and its health benefits are evident, but be wise and like everything in life, it’s all about balance, choose your battles. With a diagnosed melanoma biopsy, I now have an anxious wait and what I thought was a skin spot turned in just 6 months, early detection is the key. So find a chemical free sunscreen product, get some shade with a hat and enjoy the sun with protection."
Below Deck Down Under airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes can be streamed the following day on Peacock.
