Charli xcx Calls Out Complaints About Daring Sheer Dress During Acceptance Speech at BRIT Awards 2025

Charli xcx took a stand and called out complaints about her daring outfit while delivering an acceptance speech at the 2025 BRIT Awards on Saturday (March 1).

The 32-year-old “Everything is romantic” pop star walked the red carpet in a totally sheer black gown, which left her chest exposed.

While accepting the award for Artist of the Year, Charli said that the network, ITV, had apparently taken issue with her outfit. She shared her thoughts on that to the applause of the audience.

“I heard that ITV were complaining about my nipples. I feel like we’re in the era of free the nipple though, right,” Charli said, waving the microphone around in a joking manner.

She acknowledged the cheers, saying, “They put the clap track on, cool. Thanks for being on my side.”

Charli also thanked her many collaborators during the speech. She ended by dedicating her win to other artists: “And thank you to all the artists out there who feel like they don’t fit in but are brave enough to try and be rejected a million times. I share this with you. Thank you so much. Keep partying.”

She also won British Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Dance Act. Charli was named Songwriter of the Year at the ceremony, too. Her collaborator A.G. Cook was named Producer of the Year.
