Nick Offerman Punks Conan O'Brien at the 2025 Oscars
It feels like Conan O'Brien has already hosted the Oscars, even though he hasn't. And, during the 97th Annual Academy Awards, while hosting the Oscars for the first time, everyone was reminded that this was, indeed and in fact, his very first time.
Just as the second hour of the awards got underway, and a brief segment on Dune finished playing, a disembodied voice hilariously interrupted O'Brien, saying, "This is Conan O'Brien's first time hosting the Oscars."
The voice belonged to none other than Parks and Recreation legend Nick Offerman, who went on to say, "A lot of pressure," to which O'Brien claimed he'd hosted many other shows before. Offerman ribbed back with "Nothing this big...a challenge this big, coming so late in one's career must weigh on a man's soul."
The bit ended with O'Brien jokingly demanding that Offerman just read "the script I gave you." The camera then revealed Offerman at the mic, who said, with his signature deadpan, "He's one of the great comedians of our time, Conan O'Brien."
Obviously this was a scripted bit, and Offerman didn't actually surprise O'Brien with the interruption. But, it did highlight how great O'Brien is at hosting "things" and just how deeply ingrained the voice of Offerman is in all of our psyches.
