HUGE pop star with global hit says she’s signed up to play Glastonbury after The 1975 and Olivia Rodrigo are revealed
A CHART-TOPPING Brit pop star has revealed she’s playing Glastonbury Festival this year.
Speaking on the red carpet at Saturday night’s Brit Awards, Lola Young talked through her busy summer schedule and confirmed it includes performances at Coachella and Glastonbury.
She then had some pearls of wisdom for students of the Brit School who are looking to emulate her success.
Lola said: “You have to be super driven but anything is possible.”
It’s been a steady ascent to the top for Lola, whose smash single Messy recently spent four weeks at number one.
The track was first released in November last year and took 11 weeks to reach the summit.
Meanwhile, the Glastonbury line-up is yet to be officially revealed, however, Olivia Rodrigo and The 1975 are headlining in a “bid to appeal to a younger crowd”.
Music legends Sir Rod Stewart and Neil Young have already been confirmed to perform at the Somerset event.
The Sun previously revealed that The 1975 would headline the Friday night slot and Olivia is set to play the Pyramid Stage on Sunday night.
An insider has now told the Mail that bosses were “concerned that this year’s festival was going to be defined as the year of the wrinkly rockers.”
They continued: “The 1975 and Olivia Rodrigo are massive names who appeal to a much younger audience, so the hope is that Glastonbury will appeal to the youngsters this year as well as those who might want to see Neil or Rod.’
Frontman Matty Healy, alongside his bandmates Ross MacDonald, Adam Hann and George Daniel, has never headlined Glasto before.
A source previously told The Sun: “Matty and his bandmates are more than ready to play the Pyramid Stage and they are available.
“Festival organiser Emily Eavis has long wanted The 1975 on board, but they couldn’t make it work this year.
“They are being lined up for the Friday slot at the moment, and all the signs are really positive.”
The 1975 won Best British Group at the Brits in 2017 and 2019, and nabbed the British Album of the Year in 2019.
Olivia is most famous for her hit singles Driver’s License and Good 4 U.
The Grammy Award winner was also a series regular in Disney’s High School Musical: The Series.
We also revealed in December that three huge female stars are booked for Glastonbury.
A source said in December: “Chappell Roan, Olivia Rodrigo and Charli XCX will all play Glastonbury next summer.
“Charli will headline The Other Stage and Chappell will be playing the Pyramid Stage.
“Olivia is coming straight to Worthy Farm after playing BST Hyde Park, so her slot is being firmed up.
Sir Rod Stewart was the first act confirmed to be playing though, as he takes on the Legends slot.
The singer wrote on X: “I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that I’ll be playing @glastonbury 2025!
“After all these years, I’m proud and ready and more than able to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury in June. See you there!”
He also makes history as the first artist to take the stage in a Legends slot after previously headlining the festival.
