Watch the moment Torvill and Dean swerve Dancing On Ice axing question & insist they’ll NEVER skate on show after final

JAYNE Torvill and Christopher Dean skated around the issue of Dancing On Ice’s show future in a live chat on Good Morning Britain.

The skating duo, who are former Olympic, European and World champions, are marking 41 years since their iconic 1984 Winter Olympics Bolero routine.

Yet 2025 is a poignant one for the professional partners, who are also judges on ITV‘s Dancing On Ice series.

Jayne, 67, told Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain how their reality show skate – in Sunday’s upcoming final – would be their last.

She told host Susanna Reid, 54, and Ed Balls, 56: “The final on Sunday will be our last performance on Dancing On Ice.

“Then we go on tour and they will be our last performances, we end in Nottingham on July 12.”

Chris, 66, then revealed the last date for the Our Last Dance tour would be “the last, last performance, where it all started.

“That site where the Arena is now.”

Susanna then probed rumours that the current series of the skating competition ‘could be its last’ amid struggling ratings.

It came after fans claimed to spot a key “clue” the tea-time show would be wrapping for good.

As such, the broadcaster bluntly probed: “Tell us about Dancing On Ice.

“Because you are going to perform your very last performance on Dancing On Ice.

“What is happening with Dancing On Ice?

“Because without you performing, that’s a big backbone for Dancing On Ice isn’t it?”

Chris appeared to stay coy when answering the question as he replied: “If Dancing On Ice continues, we will just come back as judges.

“But really it is time for us.

SHOW AXE?

Their comments came after we reported how this week’s DOI final “could be the last.”

The show skated onto our screens in 2006, but ended after its ninth run in 2014.

It then returned four years later, as pro skaters Jayne and Christopher opted to swap their role as mentors to be judges.

A source previously told The Mirror: “There are very real fears this is the end of the road for Dancing on Ice.

“It’s had a good run for nearly 20 years and has a very loyal set of viewers who really love it but the sad truth is there’s just not enough of them.

“We need bums on seats but the ratings have dropped to a point where it’s difficult to justify the cost.”

This year, 2.9million tuned in for the launch of the show, compared to 12million in its heyday, and by the fifth episode that number had decreased to 2.4million.

An ITV spokeswoman continued to tell the publication: “The Dancing on Ice team is fully concentrating on the much anticipated series finale this coming Sunday and therefore no decision has been made.”
