Randy Rainbow Transforms Into Elphaba to Watch Trump ‘Defy Democracy’ in New Parody | Video
“Wicked: For Good” is still a year out but as Oscars season ends, Randy Rainbow is back to fill the “Wicked”-shaped hole — instead of defying gravity, he’s calling out Donald Trump as he defies democracy.
As always, the new parody begins with a sit-down “interview” with Trump, though this time he’s got Elon Musk by his side.
“You two dime-store dictators are tearing down institutions and eroding our rights. It’s starting to feel super constitutional crisis-y,” Rainbow tells them. “Kind of funny to think that, had you not outrun the law yourself, you might be sitting in prison right now instead of the Oval Office.”
As a clip of Trump starts to respond by ranting about former President Joe Biden, as he tends to do, the music for “Defying Gravity” kicks in, and Rainbow begins his latest song.
“Nothing has changed about you. It’s all the same routine,” he sings. “You are still the same obnoxious fool from 2016. Makeup you are still not blending, promises you will not keep. Wrapped in your own self interest, shhh, close your mouth,
you creep!”
“It’s time to cry ‘Buh-bye democracy,'” Rainbow continues. “And watch this guy defy democracy. Would someone stop this clown?”
When it comes time for what is usually an emotional exchange between Glinda and Elphaba, Rainbow instead hopes Trump is happy.
“I hope you are happy, you heartless billionaire. I hope you fix your hair. I hope you are not too mean and best of luck with buying Greenland,” he sings. “I hope the next four years do not suck. I hope you are happy, you schmuck.”
How does Rainbow bring it all home? Well, he extends Elphaba’s warning to the wizard a bit, laying out a slew of new insults for Trump.
“And no one in the whole U.S. can save us from this bleach blond mess, whose bats–t crew obsessed with walls, with ears of steel and tiny balls,” he sings. “An actual convicted felon dragging us all down to hell. Narcissistic, instigating fascist crook who feeds on hating anyone outside his cult. No porn star dem or sane adult is ever gonna stop this clown!”
