Horrifying moment off-lead dog attacks horse sending animals hurtling into oncoming traffic & carriage passengers flying
SHOCKING footage shows the horrifying moment a dog attacks a horse and sends carriage passengers flying.
Dashcam footage shows the off-leash hound running across the road towards the three horses, which were pulling buggies with drivers.
The dog then starts snapping at the hooves of one of the animals in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
The horses appeared to be visibly spooked by the attack as the drivers quickly move to try and calm them.
But the frightened horses were then seen veering into oncoming traffic as the dog continued to nip at them.
Shocked motorists watched on as the horses continued to rear up during the chaos.
Towards the end of the clip, the dog chases one of the horses head-on towards the car with the dashcam footage.
The horse can be seen rearing up before it throws the driver off the buggy who lands painfully on the bonnet of the car.
A person, believed to be the dog’s owner, can also be seen running into the middle of the road and picking something up off the floor.
The clip has gone viral online after it was shared on Facebook yesterday.
The video is dated March 3 and has been viewed ten of thousands of times on Facebook, attracting dozens of comments and more than 600 shares.
Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for comment by The Sun.
Users on social media took to the comments to weigh in with their opinions as they reacted with horror to the attack.
Many comments stress how the incident could easily have led to a far worse outcome if the drivers on the opposite side of the road had not stopped.
One person commented: “OMG. That is terrible, it could so easily have been a whole lot worse.
“I hope everyone including the horses are OK. It needs reporting to the police. Someone could have been killed.”
Another wrote: “Wow that is absolutely horrible, it actually turned my stomach to watch it, so I can’t imagine how all that were involved feel.
“Hope everyone and the horses are alright.
“What happened is bad enough, but watching that it could have been a completely different outcome.”
A third added: “Wow omg hope all the horses are okay, can’t believe what happened.”
