Arrests Made After Chiefs Fans Found Dead, Frozen in Backyard

Last January, three men were found dead and frozen in the backyard of one of their friends two days after they had attended a party to watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Diego Chargers. It made major headlines at the time, and toxicology reports said all three men died of a fatal mixture of cocaine and fentanyl. Still, there were never any criminal charges made. 

That changed this week, with prosecutors finally arresting and charging two men in connection to their deaths.

Platte County, Missouri officials announced that Jordan Willis and Ivory Carson have each been charged with three counts of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of delivery of a controlled substance. They say both men allegedly provided the drugs at the party, leading to the deaths of Clayton McGeeney, David Harrington and Ricky Johnson. 

The event was held at Willis' home, and all three men's bodies were later found frozen in his backyard

Willis, who reportedly checked into rehab after the incident, had said he didn't notice his friends bodies on his property for several days, until the fiancée of one of the deceased men discovered his body while searching for him. The three men had been seen entering the home by neighbors several days before, toting 30-packs of beer as they prepared to watch the game. 

Willis Lawyer, John Picerno, said in a statement that he maintains his innocence. 

"Jordan maintains that he is not responsible for purchasing or supplying the drugs that led to the deaths of his three friends. We are very much looking forward to the day a jury gets to hear all of the evidence in this case."

Meanwhile, Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd had this to say: "This case is a tragic reminder of the dangers of street drugs. But make no mistake, the people who supply those drugs can and will be held accountable when people overdose."
