White Lotus Star Breaks Silence On Criticism About Her Teeth
British actress Aimee Lou Wood is one of the stars of the current season of the HBO series, "The White Lotus," but she has received a lot of attention and criticism from fans for her teeth.
While many star actors and actresses in Hollywood have very polished and perfected looks, Wood has a very natural look with distinctive teeth that have not been corrected with veneers or orthodontics.
Even though this has led to a lot of comments and criticism from fans, she does not seem bothered. In fact, she embraces the fact that her natural looks set her apart from other actors and actresses.
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she spoke a little bit about how it feels to be so natural-looking amongst a cast of Hollywood stars and she broke her silence a bit on the criticism she has faced as a result of her teeth.
"These people live in Hollywood. I live in my little flat in South East London," she told the outlet. "I’m so British in my sensibility that I wasn’t sure how to handle being around so many people who are so front-footed and confident. All I ever do is take the [expletive] out of myself."
She spoke specifically about her teeth, calling her look "a bit rebellious" because she has stuck with her natural look despite others opting to perfect their aesthetics.
"Even the way (The White Lotus fans) are talking about me and my teeth — that I don’t have veneers or Botox - it feels a bit rebellious," she said.
However, she does understand that her teeth could prove to be a barrier to landing some roles.
During an interview last month, she admitted that she would be unlikely to be cast to portray an American in a role as a result of her teeth.
"It’s the teeth. Like, no Americans have my teeth. They just don’t. I’d have to get veneers. Because … I think that genuinely is like one of the things," she said.
For now, though, she does not seem bothered by the comments about her teeth.
