Squad Named to Compete at the 2025 Tbilisi Grand Slam
This weekend, six athletes from British Judo’s WCPP (World Class Performance Programme) will compete at the Tbilisi Grand Slam in Georgia.
Michael Fryer (Rush Judo) will compete in the -66kg category of the Tbilisi Grand Slam, aiming to secure his first medal of 2025. He will be joined by Charlie Young (Ryecroft Judokwai), who comes into the event in excellent form after an impressive silver medal finish at the Podgorica Senior European Cup just a few weeks ago.
Rhys Thompson (Enfield Judo Club) will be aiming to secure his first silverware of 2025 in the competitive -100kg category. He will be joined by Oliver Barratt (Dragons Academy), who is coming into the event with strong momentum after claiming a medal at the Warsaw European Open last month. Barratt will be looking to build on that success and maintain his impressive form as both athletes set their sights on the podium.
Another Warsaw European Open medallist aiming to carry that momentum into Georgia this weekend is Kelly Petersen-Pollard (Hardy Spicer 83) in the -70kg division. She competed in this same Grand Slam event last year but fell short of a podium finish and will be determined to improve on that result this time around.
Meanwhile, in the -78kg category, Shelley Ludford (Judo Club Osaka) will also be stepping onto the mat, eager to secure her first podium finish of the year and make her mark in the competition.
We wish the best of luck to all our athletes competing!
