Iranian Leader Khamenei: US threats ‘will Get Nowhere’
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Iranian leader, stated that the United States should understand that they will not achieve anything through threats against the Islamic Republic. In a speech on March 21, 2025, marking the beginning of the Persian New Year, he emphasized that Iran’s spiritual power has already been demonstrated in the past.
Khamenei further asserted, “The Americans should know that they will never achieve anything through threats when dealing with Iran. If any malice is directed toward the Iranian people, they will face severe consequences.” He also made it clear that Iran has never been the initiator of conflict.
Regarding American and European officials’ claims about certain groups in the region being “proxy forces of the Islamic Republic,” Khamenei dismissed these statements, calling the term “proxy” an insult to the groups involved. He stressed that these groups have their own motivations and are capable of resistance without relying on Iran.
Khamenei also mentioned that the people of Yemen, as well as other resistance groups in the region, possess their own strong motivations and are committed to their cause. He rejected the notion that Iran controls or directs these groups, emphasizing their independence.
These remarks come amid reports from Reuters that U.S. and Israeli officials are planning to meet at the White House to discuss Iran’s nuclear program. The talks are set to follow a letter from former President Donald Trump to the Iranian leader, warning that Tehran must choose between a nuclear deal with the U.S. or facing potential military action.
These comments highlight Iran’s firm stance on its sovereignty and defense, as well as its refusal to be intimidated by external pressure. The situation remains tense, with both sides preparing for more diplomatic or military engagements.
