3 Members of Wealthy Family Found Dead Inside Home
Three members of a reportedly wealthy family were found dead inside of their suburban home.
A former Bloomberg executive, along with his wife and one of their children, was found dead inside of their South Carolina home last week. Police had responded to a call about the house on Friday, March 28. There was initially a language barrier with a neighbor, but after getting through that, they were able to get into the home, where they found three people dead.
The three people found dead were 54-year-old Richard Samarel, 45-year-old Lina Maria Samarel and their 9-year-old daughter, Samantha Samarel.
A cause of death has yet to be released.
Local South Carolina media outlet WYFF 4 reports that the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office received a call from a neighbor to respond to an incident at Marilyn Perry Lane off Reidville Rd. in Greer about 11:30 a.m. Friday.
The time of death for the three people found dead is believed to be between 10:20 a.m. and 11:29 a.m.
An investigation into the deaths is ongoing. Police do not believe there is an active threat to the community.
“At this initial stage, this agency doesn't feel like there is any threat to the public,” the sheriff’s office said.
The three people were reportedly not the only ones living in the home. It is believed that the couple had other children who were in school at the time of the deaths.
The husband was a former Equities Manager at Bloomberg LP, while his wife, Lina, worked at the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, according to reports.
An investigation into the deaths is ongoing.
“Our investigation remains active, and we will release more information when appropriate.” the sheriff’s office said in a statement this week.
