Fifties by Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh lead PBKS to a comfortable 8-wicket win over LSG
Half-century by Prabhsimran Singh, along with an unbeaten half-century by Shreyas Iyer made way for Punjab Kings to secure an 8-wicket victory over Rishabh Pant-led Lucknow Super Giants.
The innings for Lucknow began on a shaky note, as the team lost Mitchell march in the very first over. The team, however, did not let that stop them in the initial phase, and were at 20 runs by the 3rd over. Then another shock came in to the team as Aiden Markram got bowled out in the 4th over, and captain Rishabh Pant got dismissed in the very next over. LSG were struggling at 39/3 by the time powerplay ended. After the powerplay, the next few overs went by slowly as Lucknow only managed to score 76 runs by the time half innings was complete.
After the half-inning mark, the lineup lost the important wicket of Nicholas Pooran who got caught out by Glenn Maxwell. Then the team seemed to have slowed their pace as the batters played carefully, while making sure to hit big shots here and there. Lucknow was at 117/4 by the time 15 overs had passed, but in the very next over, lost the wicket of David Miller.
After that the team somewhat picked up the pace, as their score quickly went from 125 to 156 in the next two overs. After that, the momentum slowed a but in the final 2 overs LSG even lost Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad in the final over. However, the team eventually posted a total of 171 for the loss of 7 wickets on the board.
The innings began for PBKS on a good note as the opening pair had scored 20 runs in the first 2 overs. A small setback was given to the lineup as Priyansh Arya then got dismissed, but the team still went with a good pace and were at 62/1 by the end of powerplay. Prabhsimran Singh then completed a brilliant23 ball fifty by the time 7th over ended, continuing his momentum and pushing the team up to 110 runs by the half-inning mark.
However, Prabhsimran’s momentum could not last long, as he got dismissed right after the half-inning mark. Nehal Wadhera was the one who then came to the ground. He continuously rotated the strike with Shreyas Iyer, who scored an unbeaten half-century and led the team to an 8-wicket victory.
