CRISIS-HIT Castle Lager Premier Soccer League debutants Kwekwe United have been fined US$3,000 and forfeited their unplayed fixture against Herentals, the PSL disciplinary committee has ruled.

The Goldminers, already battling financial and internal turmoil in their maiden top flight campaign, were found guilty of failing to fulfil their scheduled league match in April. The league awarded Herentals a 3–0 victory.

In a statement released on Monday, PSL media officer Kudzai Bare said the disciplinary committee had slapped Kwekwe United with a US$3,500 fine, US$500 of which was suspended on condition the club avoids a repeat offence this season. The effective US$3,000 must be paid by May 23, along with hearing costs.

The judgement deepens woes for a club already rocked by unpaid salaries, coaching upheaval, and ongoing disputes between owner Phil Makekera and former head coach Saul Chaminuka. The two are locked in a messy fallout that has seen police reports, legal threats, and allegations of sabotage fly between both parties.

Kwekwe United remain bottom of the PSL log with just seven points from eleven matches, and continue to face questions about whether they can even finish the season.
